Optalert uses a scientifically-proven technology to actually predict the risk of an incident of drowsiness occurring. Optalert's patented Johns Drowsiness Scale (JDS™) that uses a simple 1-10 measure to inform a user of his or her state of alertness accurately in real time. The JDS™ is a world-standard method using data collected by a user's eyelid movement, or blink.
Eyelid movements are measured at a rate of 500 times per seconds using an LED sensor built into the glasses. Logged data of every blink is then transmitted by Bluetooth or wired connection to the tablet. Multiple glasses can be connected to one tablet but only ONE connection at the time.
Data received from the glasses is processed objectively and Drowsiness state of driver displayed on the screen (JDS™ scale 1-10). Encrypted Information from tablet is then transmitted to Optalert's cloud based server via 3G or WiFi.
